Feature on WISH-TV 8 Indy Style

Art 2 The Extreme Featured on Local Indianapolis News Station

WOW! A huge thanks to WISH-TV's Indy Style cast and crew for the amazing opportunity to be on their show and get the word out about shopping handmade!

On Friday, August 24th, I took the morning off from school (I am an elementary Art teacher and I HATE to be absent) and headed to the WISH-TV 8 studio in downtown Indianapolis.  I was kindly greeted and escorted to the Indy Style studio where I was able to set up my display of handmade items from both my shop and a few of my friends. I only had about 15 minutes until the show went live.
Once I spread my array of handmade goodies, I put on my mic and was ready to go!

It was fun to watch the hosts, who were very fun to watch and kind in person, move from one place to another with the cameras automatically following them and moving from one place to another. It has been about 10 years since I was on the news and boy, has the technology changed!

I was on at 9:33 am and had just a little under five minutes to show off what I do. I talked about my items, my favorite hats from Two Seaside Babes, and mentioned the storefront opening of Vardagen on 116th street.

My favorite part was teaching the viewers how to make a t-shirt scarf because it is something so simple that anyone can create, even if you do not consider yourself a DIY or artistic person.
Just as quick as everything started, my five minutes flew by and it was over! I had a such a great time and I am very thankful to Peggy and the crew of Indy Style for the opportunity to share my story.  The busy, dedicated teacher in me rushed back to school (with 2 hours still left of my sub) and was able prep for the afternoon and continue on with the rest of my day.

P.S. I promised to link the DIY mitten pattern! You can find it HERE!

  Thanks for reading!

Well... It Was Not Quite Moby Dick...

The last three days have been the longest ever while I participated in the "Whale of a Sale" Children's Consignment Event in Zionsville. While the children and baby items were a great deal if you have kids, it was not a huge catch for me and far from the "Moby Dick" I was expecting. For those of you "crafters and artists" out there who participate in shows and events, I am sure going to have a hard time from now on, participating in any type of show that is not specifically an art, craft, or holiday boutique. Here are a few photos I took...
On the plus side, I did get a few great finds from the
sale and hang out with some wonderfully talented ladies!

(Above)
I LOVE Vera Bradley! I for the big bag for only $7.50 and the small purse for $5!
They were almost brand new!

I bought this super cute hat from Two Seaside Babes and the necklace from MadrinDesigns! Oops...I think I left the tag on all day... My husband loves the hat!

The photos below are some of the gorgeous work of MadrinDesigns. Each time I visited her booth, I saw something new that I had not seen the first time. She creates her unique pieces with a vintage-modern flair and floral theme.
My favorite part was looking at all the talent and meeting new people. I had many good things come from talking with other vendors and artists these past three days and am glad things worked out the way they did!

Carnival Open House Wrap Up and Craft Fairs!

After two busy weeks of crafting, I am finally sharing some photos from the BRAND PHOTODESIGN Open House Event last weekend! As an added note, my photos will not do theirs justice, so I am excited for when they will post the event photos!

I was kind enough to be invited as part of the planning process for this event! I was in charge of the "Arts and Crafts Area" where Art Lessons and Parties by Nicole Lewis and my Rainbow Crayons were featured. Debbie with Table Tops for Tots provided the cutest child-friendly chairs and tables for my Rainbow Crayon area where families could try out my newest Rainbow Crayon shapes and sizes!
Descriptions and examples of Private Art Lessons...
Jamee with Setting the Mood is a special event design and decor specialist. Her work is so stunning that words cannot describe (so check out the latest parties and events she has designed...including a candy bar and a Confessions of a Shopaholic party). She created everything you see in the photos that was carnival themed. If you attended, she was the wonder-women behind the food counter setting out and cooking all the delicious treats!
The event was AMAZING with tons of free food, games, and prizes. We even had an indoor bounce house and cotton candy station! Dan and Brooke Brand are amazing photographers and I was very impressed with their photography, professionalism, and facility. I look forward to working with them in the future both with my art, and future photography needs!
