Updates, Treasuries, and More!

I have been here and there for about a week and have not had a ton of time to update at all since the engagement. Your your loyal readers, sorry to keep you waiting.

WEDDING NEWS: Still no official date yet. My church is getting a new priest, so we have to wait till they call us to set up an initial meeting.  A lot of things are waiting on this, so it is making me nervous.... Did I mention that Brown and Teal/Turquoise/Aqua are our official wedding colors?!

I HAVE gone bridesmaid shopping with both my mother and Eric's sisters. Here is one of my favorites so far by Alfred Angelo. Too bad all the other ones I like are being discontinued!

IN THE SHOP: I put up some new prints of watercolor paintings and ink drawings I created on my last trip to Italy. They are pretty awesome! I want to go back so bad. Maybe you will purchase them so I can fun my honeymoon to __(Fill in the blank)____?!?!?!

TREASURIES: I have been in several treasuries over the past week or so... my Jumbo Star Rainbow Crayons were featured in the first one listed, my "Night on the Town" print was featured on the one below it.  The Rainbow Treasury made the front page, but I missed it :(
Hope everyone is having a great week! Thanks for catching up with me!

ETSY ARTIST FEATURE #6: Shaylamaddox

I have never seen anything like this in my life (and I am an art teacher, was and art major in college, and have been around the arts all my life)!!!

Etsian Shaylamaddox is an artist who makes Light Reactive Paintings using  acrylic paint, beach sand, candle wax, glass, varnish, and a few other materials. Not only does she create beautiful designs, but the color patterns and ways the light settings/paint react to one another is absolutely stunning.

It is something that you actually have to look at in order to really understand what I am trying to describe.
She writes on her shop announcement:

"I make my paintings experiential and meditative for the viewer. Light itself changes the color and effect of each piece. They will look different throughout the day (and year) and in all forms of light. My art is also uv reactive and glows in the dark."

She also writes in her profile:

"I've always been an artist, thanks to my mom who was always painting or making stained glass windows when I was growing up.

I believe in "Thin Spaces," which describe any moment in which you feel something more powerful is happening beyond what you see with your eyes. They can happen anywhere and in many forms. Sunsets and sunrises are great examples, or anywhere in nature where something seems particularly profound. It's a moment in which you intuitively sense a greater meaning. Time, space, and reality cease for a moment, and your own profound interpretation takes over.

Please visit
www.shaylamaddox.com to view more of my work. (Mostly larger pieces.)

Also check out my blog at
www.shayoa.blogspot.com for regular updates about my life, upcoming shows, and an in-depth analysis of each painting as its completed.

+ I donate 10% of all money made through art to Acres of Love. Check out
www.acresoflove.org."

Not only is her work beautiful, but she also donates 10% of her profits to Acres of Love.

Please comment on her work below. I would love to hear what others think!

Now.... if only my first year art teacher budget could afford it... saving now! It is my goal to own one of these soon!!!!!!

The Black Apple on Martha!

Last week I got to watch the ETSY segment of Martha when Rob was on the show. I saw some amazing shops and shops I had even gotten to know! I had never run across seller, theblackapple, before other than looking at the Top Sellers List every once in awhile.

Today in the threads, I came across this thread about theblackapple on Etsy. I just think it is so cool when sellers ae featured on the show, so I watched the clip and was very impressed by her! Being a 1st year art teacher and college art major, I was so excited to see someone as young as myself making a living off of her talent.

This is only my third month on ETSY and I sold my 100th item on Monday! It is sure a start, but nowhere near the 13,096 sales she has had as of today! She is currently the top seller on ETSY and creates wonderful prints, paintings, and dolls in her shop.

Please take some time to check out this link to her shop.
